Encourage car owners to give up their old cars by granting a €2,000 voucher to car owners upon surrender of their car for scrappage. The voucher may be redeemed against a discount on car registration tax provided that the new car is not more than 4 years old. This scheme will make it easier for all those currently holding old cars to give them up for scrappage because it will give their car a minimum value of €2,000.
