Amend Freedom of Information Act

Amend Freedom of Information Act

Change the Freedom of Information Act and adopt data policies to introduce greater transparency, ensuring that every citizen has right of access to official Government documents in order that requests for this access will be processed as quickly as possible.

Points

This is good, but, government documents cannot be held only by a government department. Each and every document which is not sensitive to national security, should have a copy in the national library directly accessible by the public. If viewing of documents is made subject to application for permission, this will invariably lead to inaccassibility. Failure of the house speaker to publish documents should be subject to criminal proceedings. Officials should be held accountable for their actions.
