Keep learning active

Keep learning active

Hold live online lectures. Set regular quizzes. Encourage group work. More active learning has proven time and time again to engage students more and enhance their memory of topics studied. As the classroom moves online, we should make every effort to keep active learning at the centre of education.

Points

Study after study has shown that students learn best by not just listening, but by doing. Students must solve problems and use high-order thinking, particularly analysis, synthesis and evaluation. As we move online, teachers can continue to keep students engaged by leading class discussions and debates, setting quizzes and summary exercises, building in group work, holding regular recap discussions and using learning games.
