NEW COMMUNAL MARQUEES & GAZEBOS

NEW COMMUNAL MARQUEES & GAZEBOS

I propose some of the money available be used to purchase new marquees & gazebos that would belong to the community and be used for communal gatherings such as the village fete, Kingston family day and church events.

Points

Unlike some proposals which by definition are limited in appeal to relatively small groups of villagers, the provision of new communal marquees and gazebos would be of direct benefit to a very large number of people of all age groups.

These are vital to village events both in the heat and in the rain. If we want to increase the presence of fundraising activities like the fete we need to ensure we can deliver come rain or shine. Also the village as a whole would (eg pre-school, school) would be able to use these for events.

Important to ensure we have the equipment for fundraising efforts

Most of the marquees & gazebos that Kingston has available for communal use were purchased for the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977! They have had a good innings, but are now very tatty and worn out, with some of them being completely unusable. Marquees & gazebos are essential infrastructure at the village fete, Kingston family day and church events as they provide shade from the sun and shelter from the rain, and would be frequently used, so it's a great investment.
